Marc REIN

Marc Rein was born on July 21, 1927 in Mulhouse, in the Haut-Rhin department of France. His parents were Gabrielle Rein née Hirtz and Heinrich Rein. He lived in the Alsace region of France, at 16 rue d’Illzach in Mulhouse, in the Haut-Rhin department. He and his family left Mulhouse on June 16, 1940. His last known address prior to being arrested was 13 rue Bonivard in Chambéry, in the Savoie department.

He was arrested and imprisoned in the Saint Paul jail in Lyon, in the Rhône department, on July 11, 1944. According to his internment card from Drancy camp, north of Paris, he was transferred there on July 24 together with his family. He was assigned prisoner number 25868. He was then deported to Auschwitz on Convoy 77, which left Drancy on July 31, 1944. He died in Auschwitz soon after he arrived there. His official date of death is August 5, 1944.
