Salomon REIN

Salomon Rein was born on August 18, 1884 in Sierentz, in the Haut-Rhin department of France. His parents, who were married on June 16, 1877, were Marc Rein and Fanny Guggenheim. He had three brothers and one sister. He and his family lived in Mulhouse, also in the Haut-Rhin department, but they left the town during the war in order to seek refuge in Chambéry, in the Savoie department.

Salomon was arrested in Chambéry on July 10, 1944, and taken to Lyon, in the Rhône department, on July 11. He was transferred to Drancy camp, north of Paris, where he was assigned prisoner number 25869, and was interned together with the rest of his family. He was then deported to Auschwitz on Convoy 77 on July 31, 1944, where he was murdered soon after he arrived. His official date of death was later declared to be August 5th, 1944.
