Henri BLUM

Henry BLUM (his first name was recorded as Henry or Henri in various documents) was born near Strasbourg in Hochfelden on August 6, 1903. His father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather were also born there. His great-grandfather was even decorated with the medal of Sainte-Hélène. On the Internet site ‘Judaïsme d’Alsace et de Lorraine’, is mentioned the name Isaac BLUM, born on 21 fructidor (September), year VII (1799), joined the army in 1813, discharged in 1815, light infantryman of the 24th line regiment. He was Henri’s ancestor.
Henry Blum considered himself 100% French, and he was very proud to be a French Israelite. He married Simone Moyse in 1927, and they settled in Paris, where Simone devoted herself to her love of the piano.
He was mobilized in 1939 and demobilized in 1940. He did not go back to Paris, and his wife and children were at Juan-les-Pins. It was in the suburbs of Clermont-Ferrand that they sought refuge until 1944. Henry Blum was turned in as a Jew and imprisoned. Simone was arrested three days later when she brought him a suitcase.
They were transported to Drancy and deported in convoy 77. They did not come back.[:pl]

Henry BLUM est né à Hochfelden, tout près de Strasbourg, le 6 août 1903. Son père, son grand-père, son bisaïeul, son trisaïeul, étaient nés au même endroit. Son arrière -grand -père avait même été décoré de la médaille de Sainte-Hélène. Dans le site de Judaïsme d’Alsace et de Lorraine, il est mentionné le nom d’Isaac BLUM, né le 21 fructidor, an VII (1799) entré au service en 1813, libéré en 1815, chasseur au 24è de Ligne. C’était son ancêtre.
Henry Blum se disait 100% français, et il revendiquait français israëlite, ce dont il était très fier. Il s’est marié avec Simone Moyse, en 1927, et ils habitaient Paris, où Simone se donnait à sa passion, le piano.
Il a été mobilisé en 1939, et démobilisé en 1940. Il n’a pas rejoint Paris, et sa femme était avec ses enfants à Juan les Pins. C’est dans la banlieue de Clermont-Ferrand qu’ils ont trouvé refuge jusqu’en 1944. Henry Blum a été dénoncé en tant que Juif et emprisonné, et Simone a été arrêtée en lui apportant une valise, trois jours après.
Ils ont été transportés à Drancy et font partie du convoi 77, dont ils ne sont pas revenus.
