Michelle VARADI

Michelle Varadi was born on February 26, 1939 and lived with her parents in Colombes until their arrest.
Her father, Eugène Maxime (called Miksa Max) Varadi, was born on April 29, 1904 at Topolcany in the Czech Republic. He was a milling machine operator.
Her mother, Hermine Breiner Varadi, was born on September 14, 1899 at Salgotarjan, Hungary to Coloman Breiner (born in 1863 at Salgotarjan, died in Budapest in 1927) and Elénore Breiner (née Schonfeld in 1864 at Salgortarjan, died in Hungary in 1942).
Her parents were married in 1929. (Hermine had been previously married to Vilmos Heim in 1918.) They were arrested in July, 1942. Max was deported in convoy 7 on July 19, 1942 and was murdered upon his arrival at Birkenau. Hermine was deported in convoy 14 on August 3 and died on August 8.
Michelle, interned at Drancy, remained alone for several weeks. She was freed on October 22, 1942 and hospitalized for several days. On December 2, 1942 she was taken to the children’s center of the UGIF (General Union of the Israelites of France) at Neuilly-sur-Seine. She was kept in the Nursery up to her arrest in July, 1944. Records attest to the renewal of rationing cards in 1943-1944. In her Diary 1942-1944 Hélène Berr alludes to the children in the Nursery she minded at the beginning of 1944. Like the other children living in the UGIF’s children’s centers Michelle was arrested on the order of Aloïs Brunner at the Neuilly nursery at 67 rue Edouard Nortier, along with Jacqueline Chalupowicz and fourteen other very young children, by the Gestapo. She was deported at the age of four years and five months in convoy 77. François Uzan dedicated his documentary Anne et le Révérend to the memory of Michelle Varadi. Michelle Varadi urodziła się 26 lutego 1939 i żyła w Colombes aż do aresztowania  rodziców. Jej ojciec Eugène Maxime Varadi (nazywany Miksa Max) urodził się 29 kwietnia 1904 w Topolcany w Czechach. Był frezerem.
Matka Hermina Breiner Varadi ,urodzona w Salgotarjan na Węgrzech, była córką Colomana Breiner (urodzonego w 1865 w Salgotarjan i zmarłego w 1927 w Budapeszcie) i Elenory Breiner z domu Schonfeld (urodzonej  w 1864 w Salgotarjan i zmarłej na Węgrzech w 1942).
Rodzice Michelle pobrali się w 1929. Hermina wyszła za mąż pierwszy raz za Vilmosa Heima w 1918. Rodzice zostali aresztowani w lipcu 1942. Max został deportowany siódmym konwojem 19 lipca 1942 i zamordowany po przyjeżdzie  do Birkenau. Herminę  deportowano do Auschwitz czternastym konwojem 3 sierpnia, gdzie  zmarła po pięciu dniach.
Michelle, internowana w Drancy, została sama podczas wielu tygodni. Uwolniono ją 22 października 1942 i skierowano na kilka dni do szpitala. 2  grudnia 1942r.  została przeniesiona do Centrum dla dzieci Izraelitów z Francji  w Neuilly-sur-Seine.
Została w żłobku aż do jej aresztowania w lipcu 1944r. Z dokumentów wynika, że jej karta żywnościowa byla odnawiana podczas 1943 i 1944 roku. Helena Berr wspomina w dzienniku 1942-1944 o dzieciach ze żłobka, którymi się zajmowała na początku 1944r.
Tak samo jak inne dzieci mieszkające w domach dziecka UGIFu, Michelle w towarzystwie Jacqueline Chalupowicz i czternaściorga innych dzieci została aresztowana przez Gestapo  na  rozkaz  Aloïsa Brunnera w żłobku w Neuilly, który mieścił się na  ulicy  Edouarda Nortiera 67.  Deportowano ją konwojem 77 w wieku czterech lat i pięciu miesięcy.
François Uzan zrealizował o niej  reportaż “Anne et le Révérend”. Jest  ona na zdjęciu w dziele zleconym przez Joëla Mergui “ Ku pamięci Żydów deportowanych Haut de Seine”, Rada generalna z Hauts de Seine, 2005, strona 60, 61, 62, 63 i 65.
