Yom HaShoah: a commemorative ceremony at the French embassy in Israel

On April, 8th 2021, for Yom HaShoah, a day dedicated in Israel to commemorations of the Jewish genocide during World War II, a ceremony took place at the French ambassador’s residence in Tel Aviv. Convoi 77 participated in this event attended by around 50 people.

The representatives of 17 different countries, which all had citizens present in convoy 77, were present at the ceremony. Among them were 13 ambassadors.

Eric Danon, French ambassador in Israel, Emanuele Giaufret, ambassador of the European Union to Israel and Georges Mayer, president of the Convoi 77 association, all delivered speeches and paid tribute to the victims.

This commemoration happened exactly six years after the launch, celebrated from the same residence, of Convoi 77 in Israel. In order to assess the development of the association, Georges Mayer handed each ambassador a summary of the work accomplished in their respective countries.
